Going on a Road Trip

And so it begins again... We are brave enough to take our 6 month old baby girl on a road trip for 10 hours. Last time we went Mindee was 2 weeks old and just slept the whole way. This time I get the feeling things will be a little different haha. This will be interesting....

We are going to Maitland, NSW which is 30 minutes from Newcastle. Daniel lived there for 10 years as a kid and he loves the place... I guess thats why we are going back for a holiday lol. I don't mind too much since we made a deal he would take me shopping in Sydney :). While we are near Sydney I want to visit Palm Beach. This is commonly know as 'Summer Bay' where they film Home and Away! I absolutely love Home and Away haha... It will be great to see where they film everything and if I'm lucky sometimes you can see the actors on set :)

So I have spent the day cleaning the house and packing both mine and Mindee's bags for the week. There is so much more to organise and pack with a baby, but it is definitely worth the extra effort. Finally at 9:30pm everything is packed and in the car ready to set off bright and early in the morning.
Mindee and I are super tired after a busy day and we are both going to sleep well tonight :)

I'll keep you posted on our adventure and share photos as soon as I can. Wish me luck with the long drive.. (I will need it) lol

Newbie at Blogging

Hey Everyone!

So I have just started blogging and would love your support! I want to create a blog that keeps people up to date on the adventures of my life :) I am just a real person who loves life and wants to enjoy every moment of it. I am a Mum and Wife who is active and loves to be creative.

The best 6 months of my life

I was just starting to come to terms with the fact that I was actually pregnant when I realised Little Miss Mindee was ready to come out. It felt so surreal that I had just grown a baby in my belly and now she was laying in my arms!

Just 2 hours after she was born

Mindee was born at 11:43am and the next day at 9:30am I left the hospital. (I couldn't wait to get out of there!) It was such a weird feeling walking out of the hospital holding my newborn baby. This is when the real fun began... no more help from the midwives and its all up to me now, scary but so exciting at the same time.

By the time Mindee was 5 weeks old she had been on a road trip, a fishing trip and a camping trip. She is one adventurous baby!

Mindee - 2 weeks old

We began our family road trip to Maitland, NSW which is near Newcastle... this is an 11 hour drive!! She was such a good baby and slept the whole trip waking just for feeds. :)

Mindee - 5 weeks old

Fishing and camping with Daddy is always so much fun :)

At 8 weeks Mindee started sleeping 8 hours a night and by 10 weeks she was sleeping 10 hours every night. I could not have asked for a better sleeping baby! All the giggles started at 12 weeks and have not stopped since then. I love nothing more then hearing my baby girl giggling. It felt like just yesterday I fell pregnant... but time does not slow down..at 3 months she started to roll from her tummy to back.

At 4 months old I started Mindee on solid foods... she was soo ready! I started on rice cereal which she didn't like very much. Adding a bit of pureed fruit did the trick and I couldn't feed her quick enough.

Things can get a little messy with this munchkin haha! Especially when silly Mum doesn't use a bib!

Everything seemed to start happening at once with Mindee and it was all around the 4 month age. She started her solids, started sitting up on her own, started sleeping 7pm till 7am and starting being a lot more active and alert. I love seeing my precious girl grow each and every day!

5 months came around so quickly... My baby is so active and full of smiles. It melts my heart each time I get one of those cheeky smiles. Mindee has mastered her rollie pollies from back to tummy and tummy to back over and over again haha. This princess will have been in my life for 6 months in 3 days time. I have loved and enjoyed every minute of it and it looks as though I will be chasing an active crawling baby around in no time. Mindee has started to balance and rock on all fours and is wriggling forward on her tummy by pushing her feet against the floor. Crawling here we come!

Now that I have you up to date on the life of my "Mindee Kay" I will start posting about my life and all things fun and creative that I get up to :)

My Bundle of Joy "Mindee Kay"

Meaning of Mindee = Sweet As Honey

So it all began when my body started to feel different and I had an inkling that I may be pregnant. A week later I got around to taking a pregnancy test... and what do you know.. it was POSITIVE.

After telling our family and friends the exciting news.. our little fetus who we nicknamed "Minnie" was showered with gifts and flowers!!

It was very exciting getting to see "Minnie" in the scan and finding out we were having a baby GIRL! :)

It took a couple of hours to convince my husband that I actually was pregnant and not joking. When he saw the pregnancy test.. I think it really sunk in that I was not joking! Ha! :D After the initial shock.. HE WAS SOOO EXCITED! Daniel (My Husband) couldn't wait to tell everyone and anyone! lol

Pregnancy....

I was 5 weeks along when I found out I was pregnant. The next few weeks I felt slightly nauseous, tired and didn't have my regular appetite. Around 12 weeks I was sick a few times after I ate breakfast, besides this.. I felt awesome for the rest of my pregnancy. I was soo lucky that I wasn't stuck in bed or in front of the toilet bowl for the first trimester.

This is when I was 35 weeks pregnant... so ready to meet little miss Minnie

At the very end of a long journey...

The pregnancy felt like it lasted forever, but looking back now.. it went unbelievably quick!

Mindee was so spoilt at her baby shower and got lots and lots of presents.

The girls at the baby shower all wrote a note on a little onesies card to Mindee. It is such a great idea.. I will keep these for Min for when she is older and she can read them all :)

Well the due date (17MAR2012) came along but still no sign of Minnie wanting to come into the world... At this point I was sooooo ready for her to come haha.. I tried everything, hot food, walking, sex, pineapple, raspberry leaf tea, squatting... you name it I tried it. But Min was obviously not ready yet... 3 days later (20MAR2012) she decided it was time to met Mum and Dad :)

I will spare you all the details of labour haha.. But I will tell you that my labour started at 6am when my waters broke, active labour started at 8am and at 11:43am my beautiful Mindee Kay Hodge was born :)

Weight - 8.1 lbs
Height - 54cm
Head Circumference - 35cm

Now I have the privilege and joy of this angel in my life everyday! She is such a blessing!
